I was starting to get worried that you weren't actually doing any work until I saw this photo.
I love the high quality tables and chairs! ;)Cool to see that you're keeping it pretty indy.
love the table and chairs.
Editing a feature film with apple computers. That makes me smile.
I cannot wait for this movie... It killed me to no extent to wait for the Fountain after Requiem and I am simply loving that I won't have to wait another 7 years!
GO ANDY GO!!!!!!that rules DA! i miss you guysi send love from IstanbulNiko
Glad to see you at work! Jordan.
It seems that the guy (editor?) has the truth in his hands :D!!!Good to see that the work goes on...PS: I didn't imagine that there was an Ikea in Malta :D!!!
One question comes to mind:Avid or Final Cut?Keep at it guys. I'm sure this film will become (if it isn't already) awesome!
sick. i am so hoping this is in theaters by the summer. glad to see you working darren. loved 'the fountain'. thanks for not making us wait another 7 years for a movie! :)
Remember to put good music with the images.
Hey There,Seriously, glad to see we can see this sooner than we had to when it came to the Fountain. But that film was worth the wait. I'm a film critic (as well as indie filmmaker) here in Kuwait and I rated the Fountain as teh absolute best film of 2006, and now in retrosepct, i think it's actually the best film of the new milleniumkeep up the fantastic work
You should cut and leak a trailer :D
whats wrong with apples and features :Dand i think it's an avid... as for the right monitor showing... or just LARGE bins... and final cut but it's too rough to be FC2so.. we are waiting for the film.and please consider visiting Bulgaria ;)
Very cool! The modest setup is most excellent indeed.
I can't wait to see your next movie! It is great to know that you are so close to my home country.
Glad to see that you have made a new movie. I loved The Fountain. I hope one day it will be appreciated as the masterpiece that it is.
Americans love EVIDENCE
Been a great admirer of your work since Pi. After watching each film of yours I always used to think what's next. As always waiting for the new one!
I cannot wait for your new film. You have fans in Hungary as well:)Keep up the good work!
Hi Darren..Finally i find u..
Hi darren, you are an amazing director, your wife is uniqueI live just 300mtrs from your residence at malta and I did not have a chance to see you yet.Well hope to see you before you leave.
Dear Mr Aronofsky,I am Maltese, and i have been waiting for more posts.... please illuminate us about your days in Malta!Have you had time to work? What do you think of the local people, the food, the climate, THE LOCATIONS... have you considered shooting a film here?well... just keep up the fantastic work you got us addicted to!
This isn't the appropriate place to leave this comment, but I thought if not now, then never. I watched Pi for the first time a few months ago. And cried. Story of my life, but backwards. Migraines and all. Where do I find more people like this? Do they exist? And suddenly this ant has found it's way into my house...and it's everywhere I seem to look: on the mirror, in the bathtub, on a picture frame. That was the ONE part of the movie I couldn't QUITE put my head around. Entirely, at least. Perhaps I wouldn't even have noticed were I not in state of flux. Of seeking and not finding. Of hiding and not being sought. What is the purpose of this ant? This ONE ant? Regardless, thank you for putting me on a path I may have never known I was on. This movie changed my life.
Darren,Your work is absolutely amazing. My name is Joe Karg and I'm working on a comic book project called El Grande with my partner Elio Guevara. We are really big fans of the Fountain and our visual style has been hugely influenced by Kent Williams, so we thought you may like to see what we're doing over here. We can't wait to see your new film and we wish you all the best. It's really great that you make yourself accessible in a medium like this. We enjoy reading all the things you have to share.Peace,Joe y Elio

I can't wait for this. You always take interesting projects. Loved the Fountain, too. Most underrated film of its year.
Hello Darren,Your work of The Fountain was quite impressive. Was reading about your desire to complete a story of Noah.I too have had a lot of focus on reshaping or giving a different light on our past history. The ark has been on my mind as well. Here is a few thoughts on that story I had...The ark is our whole life and we find ourselves building and strengthening our spirit. Bringing within us all life that is willing to live. Any one or thing that is not excepting of our greater path we are to let go of.We travel deep within our ark and letting go of the outside world. Anyways...Thought I would share that with you. There is two great stories I was hoping to bring to your attention. It has been over twelve years now and have been studying a lot of American and European history. My story would totally reshape how we view Spain, England and France's journey to this new land.It is far different than anything that is out there.Feel free to contact me any time. I now live in New Mexico. Perhaps if you are around we could have lunch and talk about it. My desire is to see if you would like to get involved with my story. I am totally flexible and work well with others. The reaction of the viewer and getting people to think differently is important. Going back to the past and knowing it from a different point of view will help us reshape our future.Take Care and good luck on your future projects.Brandon Whitewww.goldentara.com
Wow! So... I hope you don't mind if a ramble a bit but I've got a short story and then a rather serious question.I just bought your movie "The Fountain" in a buy 2 get 2 free deal, it being the 4th that I chose after I had found 3 I wanted to buy but couldn't find a 4th. Normally I am incredibly, well, picky when it comes to movies and never ever buy anything I haven't seen and never, never buy movies in package deals because I can never find enough I want to make it worthwhile. Anyway... but take it as a compliment (if you want to) that after seeing Pi and Requiem for a Dream I was at least hopeful (if a little bit skeptical still) for the movie. Then I watched it and was totally blown away! By far one of the best films I have ever seen in my life and I'm proud to own it.Now... that having been said, I do have a very serious question for you, more just out of curiosity than anything else, and if you wouldn't mind answering, I can assure you I'd find your answer, whatever it might be, to be fascinating in the extreme.So... my question is:Have you ever read Frazer's "The Golden Bough"; and if so, how much would you say it influenced your movie, and if not, where the heck did this even come from?
It seems that my last post never worked!I am a conceptual designer. I have worked on Blood last vampire or Dragon Ball.I am a big fan of your work and I have a Robocop to share with you..Is it possible that you contact me..you can check y website by writing a.tuis in google.I am already in contact with Mrs Parent at mgm, but I would like to share with you my work.BestAlex
So you're doing robocop? Wow.
Hello Mr Aronofsky,I have a design for you.If I say that Michael C Hall (dexter) is Robocop, does it makes you smile? Please contact me.Alex
Mr. Aronofsky,I am going to do my absolute best not to sound like your ordinary avid fan. I say this because I feel the connotations and expectations that come along with the word 'fan' do not fit me. Although I'm not knocking any of your other "fans" down, because anyone who is a fan of you is a pretty cool cat. Basically, I am an aspiring filmmaker and your films were the ones that inspired me. Your films were the ones that made me want to make films. I was always a huge fan of movies, but once I saw yours I was captivated and realized that I can't not do anything other than make films. You are able to capture true human emotion, mix it with technical genius, and create masterpieces that will be remembered as the best films ever made. I realize that in many aspects this is ridiculous to ask but 'the best ideas are on the verge of crazy', if there was anyway possible that I could be an intern of yours I would...explode. And by intern I mean, a day, a week, a month, allowing me to pick at your brain for 60 seconds. I'm not joking at all. If you told me that if I flew to New York you would allow me 60 seconds of knowledge, I would do it. This makes me sound crazy I know, but to me you are equivalent to Kubrick. I know there is about a 1 and 8 billion chance that I will even hear anything back from this, but if I never tried I'd never know.
Darren,Could I get in contact with you personally? I made a webpage for your eyes only... Please take a chance to contact me or send me your email address, so I can send you the link. That would be great.Yours faithfully,Ruben van Leerruben[at]westframe.com
Dear Darren,I'm a teacher in the heart of the East LA experience... street kids with attitudes... a continuation high school. I have much to share... PI is one of the foundations of my curriculum. I am in the business of developing consciousness and awareness in people... I'm presently studying mind/quantum structure with Dr. Joe Dispenza. I am soon to start writing... if you are interested in seeing what I'm up to, and be the hero to my students... please contact me at Vail High School... email me (as well as anyone else who is reading this blog comment) I work with the Joseph Campbell foundation and met with your wife at the Esalen Institute... I didn't want to bother you, so please contact me... I have very much to share about the relevancy of your work, and the need to create a study guide for free thinking teachers and student who are breaking from the symbolic Matrix of our lives... your movie impacts lives... and continues to do soSincerely, Jasmine Kazarianmythicjazz@aol.com
Darren -Would you be interested in bringing your film to Memphis? We would love to talk to you about screening at our 10th annual film fest -www.onlocationmemphis.org - please contact me - firstname.lastname@example.org
woowow... i have the same speakers at my edit desk..
i love the proof. and your so handsome at work. i think you need a break- when am i taking you to drinks? ;)
iam really sorry for not explaining myself further and then just posting the same possibly garbled mess...2x, however this is my first phone in two months and my hands hurt and it requires intense concenttration to choose to "bloggg". The brother I refer too was my companion 50 HurriCane EClipse who comforted me throughout amazingly trial_times and who attacted a brindle mastiff on my landlords property and that night I put my dog to sleep for breaking out of my trailer and attacking another full grown male 250 pound mastif... Iam sorry for the post. If it was possible for you to imagine the wishes of my communication than I should rest well tonight. But as per usual I have most infalliably calculated my lack of meaning instilled upon the viewer or receiver of any message which iam so slow to attach a thesis to. I wish I felt more consciounable about my time to explain myself better. Good afternoon good morning and good night.
There was once a friend . He had big heart. He met in his dreams one girl . He knew he want to meet her . He awoke once ..as I did .. His friend's mother called him crazy and sent him back.. He gave to his friend hand written book .. for inspiration . Yes, nice story. Who would believe that. email@example.com
