Hey, I'm so glad to see that you finally got the commentary up. I've been looking forward to hearing what you have to say about The Fountain.
Love the new site and blog. Congrats on moving away from the god-awful myspace.
Hope to hear and see more from you.
Thank you for the commentary but especially for the movie.

Thank you for creating such original and profound films. I can't wait to see what you're going to do next.
Awsome site (Niko does it again!) and finally a place with more frequent updates!
Thank you for helping me become a better person and for sharing your vision.
All the best, Ana
Darren,
The commentary and new website are exciting news! I have been checking your myspace blog frequently, waiting for both.
Can't wait to listen to the commentary while watching The Fountain for the 15th time (or so).
Hello Darren. My name is Benton Rooks. I have had a small but steady fanbase built since before the release of the Fountain in theaters. I would love to get as many people as possible involved in this, and if you could take a look at the forums it would honor me greatly. I believe it to be the best way to truly gather all the fans and build a solid community. Let me know what you think.

Sweet. It's too bad there wasn't any commentary on The Fountain DVD as well. At least it's on here. Can't wait to hear about the possible next project.
Hi Darren, I'm Aaron. Your films mean a lot to me. We are all behind you for whatever's next.
P.S. Please consider someday doing a film with Christopher Doyle.
benton-

Is it possiable to give us a download link of the mp3? I'd really like to put it on my iPod and listen to it while I watch the movie in my tv room instead of having to watch the film on a smaller screen.
Thank you so much for making your films, I have all of them on dvd. As someone who hopes to become a filmmaker in coming years you are both an inspiration and a huge influence, so thanks.
thanks you for the commentary and your movies ...

Darren,
Thank you so much for your reply. It has been a dream of ours at The Fountain forum to be recoginized by you and I plan to do everything in my power to make it worthy of an "Official Forum" title.
If you can contact me at my email benton_rooks@hotmail.com I can fill you in with more details about setting up an admin account for you there. I think the best way of approach is to begin to advertise you as a contributor on the forums (As time will permit, I know you are very busy) or at the very least a watcher of the forum, and this will inevitably draw the entire fanbase on the net.
Please let me know how this sounds to you, and thank you so much for making our dreams come true at the Fountain forums.
Sincerely,
Benton
In the meantime, as Darren has said, go and sign up at the forums!

Look forward to seeing you all there.
@ jcr : the download-link doesn't work :(
My thanks to Darren Aronofsky and Niko Tavernise for taking the effort of making a commentary track for the Fountain.
I'm eagerly awaiting your next project.
Hello Darren,
My name's Jordan and I'd like to thank you for making such a wonderful film. I've been a fan of your work since I saw Pi and then Requiem for a Dream, and I loved those films as well, but I felt especially connected to the Fountain. It hit me on a personal level that I hadn't felt in a years with most new films. It was a great emotional roller coaster.
At the moment, the thought of my grandmother dying (she's still alive today) was with me at the screening and I completely felt your film discussed issues that we are afraid to discuss in person, but to me, you visualized it in such a different way that by the time I reached the climax, I wept.
It was a combination of what I brought, what you created, how I empathized with Tom's character at the end when he finally gives up and realizes the meaning behind Izzie's words. But in short, it was a beautiful experience, one that I could only characterize as a "holy moment" in my film going experience. Thank you for that. I will be an avid fan of your films and will never hesitate to see anything you come up with because to me, you're a true inspiration as a filmmaker.
I'd also like to commend you on the scenes with the Mayans. I felt you represented the culture very well unlike Mel Gibson's film which I felt was disrespectful to the culture and didn't even go into what fascinates most historians about the Mayans: their art, philosophy, astronomy, and way of life. It was simply an action film dressed up as a historical piece and that bothered me immensely. I was very glad I didn't pay to go see his film. Even though in your film, you only caught a glimpse of the culture, it still was crafted in a way where you're not manipulating the audience to think, "Oh, those are evil Mayan people." I'd like to believe we should have moved on past this black and white way of painting the world, but I suppose that's too much to ask for in this day and age. Sorry to ramble on like this, but I can't thank you enough for crafting a great film.
Thank you for making your art.
cool new page Darren, off to listen to The Fountain commentary now - many thanks for putting it online. Why they left it off the DVD i'll never know.
cheers,
mark
I'm still confused as to WHY this was left off the DVD. Thank you for sharing it with the fans!
